Living Presently

Have you ever set goals that you would like to accomplish by a certain time, like finances, house, kids, marriage, career? Have you ever had set backs to those goals? Well I have been thinking about goal setting and what I have determined follows along the lines of what Brother Lawrence set out to do, except that I want it to involve all of life, not just the one aspect of his relationship with God. (If you don't know, Lawrence set a goal to practice being in the presence of God on a daily/hourly/secondly basis). For me, I would like to be in the moment with myself rather than dwelling on failures in the past or goals for the future. To live presently requires a certain shift from head thinking to heart doing. I find that most of the time it is easy to stay out of the present moment because that way I don't have to face the reality of the moment, but can linger in the past, or dream of the future. To be in the moment is to live presently with all people, self and God included! After all, this moment is already gone!
