Random Thoughts

OK, first of all this post may not make sense, but that's the fun of your own personal blog, it doesn't have to make sense to anyone but you! Thought #1: I finished reading Why Men Hate Going to Church by David Murrow. I thought that the premise is great and his findings astounding (gender gap) in churches today (American). If you want to understand why an unchurched man doesn't want to go to church, or any man for that matter, who might not be fully involved with church, this is a good read. One of my favorite quotes: "The actual Christian life lived by most church goers is about as challenging as finger painting and as exciting as a bologna sandwich." (p.20) Thought #2: Why is it that my players in my Kirk Perry hockey pool have suddenly withered up and died? Thought #3: This is the year that Angela, Kelsey and I are going back into pastoral ministry while I start FRATERIA on the side. Thought #4: I have started to read Brennan Mannings book- The Importance of Being Foolish: How to think like Jesus. Favorite line so far- "It is symptomatic that, despite the church being around for 2000 years, the mass of people pass Christianity by. Why? Because the visible presence of Jesus Christ is rarely present in Christians as a whole." (48-49) Thought #5: Being a Christian is more difficult than talking about Christ. Knowing Jesus can silence any prayer, remove all the stuff that separates me from God, and inflict a presence that positively affects all those around me, so why don't I know Jesus?
